ALERT 24/26 An Iranian-flagged dhow named "ALWASEEMI 786" has reportedly been hijacked by a probable Pirate Action Group (PAG) and is assessed to be highly likely being used as a mothership. The last known position of the vessel is approximately 400 NM east of Mogadishu. OP ATALANTA is investigating. Vessels operating in the vicinity are strongly advised to avoid transiting within a 200 NM radius of the reported position. Ships are advised to maintain enhanced vigilance, be prepared to implement BMP-MS measures, and report any suspicious activity immediately to MSCIO and UKMTO. UPDATE01: Last known position of the Probable PAG has been updated to approximately 480NM Southeast Mogadishu. Vessels operating in the vicinity are strongly advised to avoid transiting within a 200 NM radius of the reported position. UPDATE02: The hijacked dhow is being monitored closely by EUNAVFOR OP ATALANTA and currently poses no threat to merchant vessels. MSCIO will continue to issue updates as new information becomes available.
