ALERT 64/26 MSCIO has received information regarding an incident at approximately 13:35 UTC on 15 June 2026 in position 12°24’N 046°46’E. According to the information received, a tanker was approached by a small skiff carrying armed persons onboard. The crew of the skiff reportedly opened fire on the vessel using an RPG. The vessel implemented defensive measures and the attack was unsuccessful. No injuries or damage were reported. Operation ATALANTA is investigating the incident. Vessels operating in the area are strongly advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, and report immediately any suspicious activity or relevant information to MSCIO and UKMTO.
