ALERT 66/26 MSCIO has received information regarding an incident at approximately 13:19 UTC on 21 June 2026, approximately 50NM southeast of Al-Shihr, Yemen. A product tanker reported being approached by a skiff carrying five armed persons onboard who appeared to be attempting to board the vessel. In response, the vessel conducted evasive manoeuvres and altered course away from the skiff. The skiff subsequently disengaged and the vessel continued its voyage. The vessel and crew were reported safe. The incident is not currently considered piracy-related. Operation ATALANTA is investigating the incident. Vessels operating in the area are advised to maintain vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, and report immediately any suspicious activity or relevant information to MSCIO and UKMTO.
